Chuck Berry

After another sickening week of endless phone calls, surveys . . .

Are you better off now than you were when Obama took office?

Yes indeed. I felt born again the minute Bush left the White House. And if Obama wins again, I will know I've been saved.

Click.

Jim and I went to see Chuck Berry, a retrospective, in Cleveland. It was off the charts. So many great performers: Ernie Isley, Merle Haggard, Rick Derringer . . . Chuck Berry at 86 was mind-blowing.

In my wildest dreams, I can see the headlines: CHUCK BERRY OBAMA GOOSE STEPS TO A LANDSLIDE VICTORY!

That would be the dream!

Everyone stood up when Chuck Berry came out and started singing this. His daughter played the harmonica. He was -so great.

Hmmm, you'd think a man of my age would have seen Chuck Berry in concert since I listened to him on the 45 rpm's when I was a teen. We didn't do concerts then. I finally saw Garfunkel once. I love it that you young folks like Chuck.

But I am better off than I was four years ago. Much thanks to Medicare and none to our governor Sam Brownback who is systematically destroying any semblance of a safety net in Kansas. We don't get phone calls here because we live in a one-party state. Funny, I'd sorta like a phone call soliciting a vote for Obama, but it doesn't happen here. The Democratic Party is nearly extinct. Is there a song called "Shades of Red?"
