Dickinson comic, after The Heart Asks Pleasure--first (536)

The Heart asks Pleasure---
 first
And then--- Excuse from Pain---
And then--- those little Anodynes
That deaden suffering;

And then--- to go to sleep;
And then--- if it should be
The will of its Inquisitor,
The privilege to die---

It's a good thing the make-up department encouraged Em to go for that hair-strategically-occluding-vision-in-one-eye look.

It just so happens the eye that's covered is her GOOD eye.

Without it -- the mysteries of the time-machine teleprompter.

Or call them improvements.

Just goes to show once again, what every writer needs more than anything else (maybe even more than a reader), is a truly sensitive editor -- and while we're having our way, mix into that package a cartoonist with a wild sense of humour!
