Many years ago, on the Tonight Show (I think it was when Johnny Carson was still doing the show), the comedian Buddy Hackett was on the show and told a joke while he was talking to Johnny:
A flying saucer crashes on earth. And two little spacemen climb out of the flying saucer, and they figure out, "We'll need more parts to fix our spaceship."
One of the spacemen points off in the distance, "Look, there's a town. Let's go there, maybe we can find spaceship parts there."
So they walk into the town, and they're walking along the street. And they come to a delicatessen, and in the deli there's a display case full of bagels. "Look," says one of the spacemen, "we can use those to fix our spaceship."
So they go into the deli, and the man behind the counter says, "May I help you?"
"Yes," says one of the spacemen, "we'd like some wheels, please."
"Wheels?"
"Yes, wheels." And the spaceman points at the bagels.
"Oh those," says the man. "Those are bagels. You eat them. Here, try one."
The spaceman takes a bite of the bagel. And as he's standing there eating the bagel, he turns to the other spaceman, and says, "Ya know, these would go great with lachs."
