Gerard Manley Hopkins

from Inversnaid
by Gerard Manley Hopkins

What would the world be, once bereft
Of wet and wildness? Let them be left,
O let them be left, wildness and wet;
Long live the weeds and the wilderness yet.

Certain poems, songs, paintings, and well, beautiful days make me feel like crying. Funny to think about that. Hopkins is my favorite tear jerker.

Oh,yes,out here in Kansas let there be wet! We have a beautiful day out here on the wild Plains. I'll think on who is my favorite tear jerker.

Let us all be drenched with the wet wild tears of the earth, then, and roll around uncontrollably among the beautiful green and growing things of Poland with Gerard Manley Hopkins.

I love to read his work aloud. So musical.

Yes, me too . . . No one like him.
