The Man with the Blue Guitar
The Man with the Blue Guitar
by Wallace Stevens
I
The man bent over his guitar,
A shearsman of sorts. The day was green.
They said, "You have a blue guitar,
You do not play things as they are."
The man replied, "Things as they are
Are changed upon the blue guitar."
And they said then, "But play, you must,
A tune beyond us, yet ourselves,
A tune upon the blue guitar
Of things exactly as they are."
Brady's Leap will be playing at Kravitz Deli on Belmont this Thursday from 6:00 - 9:00 and at Kravitz Deli at the Poland Library on Saturday from 4:00-7:00.

That's the trouble with things as they are. They are always insisting on becoming things as they were. But then this (one fears) still remains better than things as they will be.
